Tenacity: stubborn or persistant; holding together firmly

Fortitude: mental and emotional strength in facing difficulty, adversity, danger, or temptation courageously

Vigor: force of healthy growth in any living manner

Pizzaz: the activeness of an energetic personality
3 years ago, after a very personal loss, I made a promise to keep on keeping on, and in the process make my life mean something. That is why I decided to start this blog and to find that word. Sometimes we all need a little reminder of what is important, and a push to do something that is bigger than us.

POW!! My theme for the year. Todd Durkin, CSCS  challenged us to find a theme to define our year. http://www.todddurkin.com/lucky-13/  I really struggled with defining my goals for this year with one word. I am, by nature, a typically quiet and reserved person. I enjoy being invited to the party, but rarely am I the one initiating the goings on.
I was recently promoted at work to a position that I love, but that is a big challenge for me.  I really need to step outside my comfort zone. I am going  to put myself out there and meet people. I will make friends, and be ok with getting to know people outside the ‘party’ scene. I will develop a backbone and have courage that I can do what needs to be done, and not have to have everyone like me all the time.

Personally, I want to continue to work on competing in something every month. I need vigor, and energy to continue towards my health goals. I will find the mental strength to get me through my workouts. I want to live my life with vigor. Be a force of healthy growth, and maybe help someone else get healthy along the way.

I haven’t been a Ray Lewis fan. (To be fair, I haven’t thought much about Ray Lewis at all…) but he does have some spectacular quotes. His motivational words will live on long after his football career.

These are my favorites…

“You’ve got to go out and show them that I’m a different creature now, then I was five minutes ago, cause I’m pissed off for greatness. Cause if you ain’t pissed off for greatness that just means you’re okay with being mediocre.”

“I’m older, of course I’m older, that’s the beauty of it. Sixteen years plus. Different level of wisdom, different level of understanding, different level of punishment. I want to live loooong after my records have fallen, long after my rings have tarnished.”

”Don’t let your alarm clock, be the only reason you wake up.”

I welcome conversation. It makes me think and challenges me to do better. Thanks for reading.

Until next time. …find your POW!!!
